Franklin Bicycle Store Opens

Harpeth Bicycles on Carothers Blvd

Harpeth Bikes is open on Carothers Blvd in Cool Springs!

New owner Jonathon Woody recently acquired the business, brand and logo from the previous bankrupt operator.  Woody is relocating Harpeth Bicycles from the former location at 1110 Hillsboro Rd.

The bicycle shop is at Mayfield Dr and Carothers Blvd in a retail center owned by Franklin’s mayor John Schroer.

Restaurants and Cool Springs businesses you may be familiar located in the same plaza with include First Tennessee Bank, Molinari’s, Subway, Mineo’s Raw Bar and Bodeli Sushi.

Harpeth Bicycles will cater to families and weekend warriors (no shortage of either in Cool Springs!).

A number of bicycle brands will be carried in the shop next door to Bodeli Sushi including Serotta, Cysco, 50, Jamis, Eddy Merckx and Seven Cycles.

In addition to sales, expert service and bike fitting are available, which makes Harpeth Bikes the first full service bike shop in Cool Springs.

Also worth noting, Harpeth Bikes is the only shop in Middle Tennessee to offer bike fitting through the Serotta Personal Fit methodology.  Only 2 bikes shops in all of Tennessee are actively certified fitters in the process.  The Serotta Personal Fit is an extremely in-depth bike fitting technique.

Cool Springs Auction Fails

In Cool Springs real estate news today, Jim Stevens Realty & Auction attempted unsuccessfully to auction a 1.094 Acre commercial parcel located at 9035 Carothers Parkway in Franklin TN.  I counted a total of 28 people in attendance that did not work for Jim Stevens.  All Jim Stevens employees have bright reds shirts, it was easy.  That total number includes the sellers of the property in the crowd.  This was not an absolute auction, which generally draws alot more people since they know it will sell no matter what the price.

Franklin Mayor John Schroer attended the auction.  Schroer’s company Southland Management & Development Company, owns most of the retail centers that line the opposite side of Carothers Parkway.  Mayor John Schroer stayed the entire length of this Cool Springs real estate auction but did not appear to be bidding.

The property offered was 1.094 acres (47,654 square feet) that fronted Carothers Parkway and near Bakers Bridge Avenue.  Although it is a great location in the heart of Cool Springs, the property is set down and so visibility from the road is less than surrounding buildings enjoy.

It has been approved for a 6,600 square foot building by the city of Franklin and the Jim Stevens Realty & Auction flyer claims a larger buildings can be built if you go back through approvals.  Easier said than done.

The property has common area parking with the adjoining Community First Financial Plaza bank and shopping center.  The parking ratio will be an issue if anyone plans on increasing the size of the building.  The property was advertised as being ideal for “medical, office or retail.  I see an owner-occupant with a low need for parking being the only real buyer for this land.

The high bid for this Carothers Parkway outparcel was $610,000.  The bid was not accepted and therefore the auction was declared a no sale for this prime real estate in Cool Springs.  This is the first commercial property that I have seen Jim Stevens Realty & Auction attempt to sell in Cool Springs.

Franklin TN To Pay Former Director Accused of Looking At Porn $2 Million

Hey Franklin taxpayers, can you spare an extra $2 Million?

Regardless, thats what our city leaders and John Schroer’s hasty decision to fire Joe Williams has cost us.

Thats how much the city of Franklin TN is paying Joe Williams after he was fired for being accused of looking at porn on city computers.  The city vote to fire him ended in a tie and Mayor John Schroer cast the deciding vote to break the tie to have Williams terminated.

Kevin Walters with the Tennessean reported the story entitled “Franklin to Give Out $2 Million, Apology to Ex-Worker Accused of Viewing Porn”.

That is a ton of cash.

I wonder what the Franklin Special School district would do with an extra $2 Million?
