Qdoba Mexican Grill Coming to Cool Springs

Qdoba Mexican Grill is opening in Cool Springs!

CoolSprings.com spoke with a manager today who said they are planning to open around Thanksgiving.

The fast casual Mexican restaurant chain is opening in a new retail center now under construction in front of Lowe’s on Mallory Lane in Franklin, TN.

CoolSprings.com previously broke news of Panda Express opening in Cool Springs along with a mattress store and Mexican restaurant (at the time unnamed) planned to occupy the free standing, three tenant retail development on Mallory Lane.

We predict the new Qdoba in Cool Springs to do well.  Qdoba will have a highly visible location and great access with a traffic light at the main entrance to big box anchor Lowe’s.  By comparison Chipotle Mexican Grill, a direct competitor of Qdoba, is buried in poorly located retail space with no traffic light.  The Cool Springs area Chiptotle is difficult to enter/exit during peak lunch or dinner hours.  Although Chipotle has fantastic food that we love and most locations do very well, this one never seems very busy.  Remember the old saying “Out of sight, out of mind”?  That would be Chipotle in Cool Springs, located in an older area away from the new growth in Cool Springs.  For restaurants opening in Cool Springs, location is one very important factor not to be overlooked by your retail broker.  Qdoba had much better foresight with their strategic choice of location closer to the new growth centered around the recently opened Whole Foods McEwen.

The Cool Springs location will be the fourth Qdoba in the Nashville area.  The other three Qdoba restaurants are in Brentwood, Nashville and Hendersonville.

Chipotle & Jamie Oliver Halloween $2 Burrito Promo

Chipotle & Jamie Oliver partner for Halloween

Chipotle & Jamie Oliver partner for Halloween

Go to Chipotle on Halloween dressed as a processed food item and get a burrito for $2!

This year, Chipotle Mexican Grill in Cool Springs will celebrate Halloween with its scariest BOORITO event yet. The theme? “Exposing the Horrors of Processed Food.”

Chipotle will partner with Jamie Oliver this Halloween for a $1 million fundraiser to benefit Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution. This year’s Boorito event will encourage guests to retire their old foiled burrito costume for one that resembles a horrific processed food item. (Need a “fresh” idea? Check out Steve Ells’ and Jamie Oliver’s creations below.) Once in costume, guests only need to visit their local Chipotle between 6 p.m. and closing time on October 31 and the restaurant will treat them to a burrito for only $2. All proceeds (up to $1 million) from “Boorito 2010: The Horrors of Processed Food” will benefit Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution. The fundraiser also encourages fans to enter photos of their creative processed food costumes online for prizes.

As background, Ells and Oliver are both committed to changing the nation’s food system for the better and improving the way Americans eat by making better food accessible to everyone. Ells’ efforts are focused on Chipotle’s ongoing quest to serve Food with Integrity and Oliver’s on his highly visible Food Revolution – a campaign to get people to cook again and to replace processed food with fresh, unprocessed meals when they eat out, in schools or at home.

Chipotle Grand Opening Oct. 26

Chipotle opening in Cool Springs TN

Chipotle opening in Cool Springs TN

Chipotle in Cool Springs is almost open!  Words can’t describe how excited everyone in Cool Springs is!

If you haven’t experienced Chipotle yet, you may be sick of hearing us talk about them.  Soon you will see the light!

Here is the press release we received this afternoon announcing the Oct. 26 grand opening:

“Chipotle Mexican Grill, the national restaurant chain known for serving Food With Integrity, will open the doors to its newest Franklin TN restaurant located at 430 Cool Springs Blvd. for the first time on October 26.

The new restaurant will be Nashville’s fourth Chipotle and is located near the intersection of Cool Springs and Frazier Dr.

Franklin’s new Chipotle holds true to the company’s Food With Integrity commitment to serve higher quality ingredients that are naturally, sustainably raised or locally produced. The restaurant will feature the company’s signature menu items which include burritos, tacos, bowls (a burrito without the tortilla) and salads. Guests can choose from naturally raised pork, chicken or beef, or the restaurant’s vegetarian option, which comes with Chipotle’s famous black beans, and homemade guacamole made with ripe Haas avocados. Freshly steamed rice with a hint of cilantro and fresh squeezed lime juice add even more flavor, but to top it off, guests can further customize their meals by adding any of the mild, medium or hot salsas, hormone-free sour cream and freshly grated cheese, and crisp romaine lettuce chopped fresh daily.

Featured on Oprah and ABC News’ Nightline, Chipotle’s Food With Integrity philosophy means simple ingredients are used in creative ways to elevate ordinary into extraordinary. As the nation’s first restaurant company to commit to local and organically grown produce, Chipotle has already served about 5 million pounds of locally grown produce, and in the U.S. Chipotle sells more naturally raised meat than any other restaurant and will purchase 75 million pounds of naturally raised meats this year alone. A full 40 percent of the black and pinto beans that Chipotle uses are organically grown, a percentage that will increase as Chipotle finds more farmers who grow high quality organic beans.

“We are changing the way the world thinks about and eats fast food,” said Chipotle Founder, Chairman and co-CEO Steve Ells. “For too long, great food has really only been available at the best restaurants and high-end specialty food markets, but we think it’s time to end the notion that great food is only for elite customers. It’s a new perspective on eating in America.”

Chipotle’s Food With Integrity philosophy inspired not only the sustainable food the company serves, but also has it evaluating its environmental footprint. As part of the company’s green initiative, the new Brentwood restaurant features sustainable architecture such as recycled drywall, low VOC (volatile organic compounds) paints and energy efficient appliances. Burritos, tacos and salads are also served using bowls made from recycled newsprint and unbleached tray liners and napkins, and cups are made from post consumer waste.

About Chipotle

Steve Ells, founder, chairman and co-CEO, started Chipotle with the idea that food served fast did not have to be a typical fast food experience. Today, Chipotle continues to offer a focused menu of burritos, tacos, burrito bowls (a burrito without the tortilla) and salads made from fresh, high-quality raw ingredients, prepared using classic cooking methods and served in a distinctive atmosphere. Through our vision of Food with Integrity, Chipotle is seeking better food not only from using fresh ingredients, but ingredients that are sustainably grown and naturally raised with respect for the animals, the land, and the farmers who produce the food. It’s an idea we call Food with Integrity. Chipotle opened its first new restaurant in 1993 and currently operates more than 1,000 restaurants.”

Attention all Chipotle aficionados!

We have confirmed Nashville’s third Chipotle is opening in Cool Springs, located in the retail space formerly occupied by Baja Fresh.

Shaub Construction is handling the interior build out at the space in Thoroughbred Village managed by Brookside Properties.  Other tenants located within the retail center include Bread & Company and Sweet & Sassy.

The other two Nashville area Chipotle restaurant locations are in Green Hills and West End.

For everyone not familiar with Chipotle’s fast casual Mexican concept, they source local and organic produce whenever possible. Chipotle also utilizes dairy from cows raised without the use of any synthetic hormones.  In addition they use meat from animals raised without the use of antibiotics or added hormones whenever possible.  100% of the pork used is sourced from producers who follow “Naturally Raised” guidelines.

Chipotle was founded by Steve Ells back in 1993 and is headquartered in Denver, Colorado.  The McDonald’s Corporation owned a majority of Chipotle stock from 1998 to 2006, until selling the shares.  The chain has over 1,000 restaurant locations in 36 states, Canada and England.  A very green company, Chipotle recently made arrangements to add solar panels to 75 of their restaurants.
