MacAuthority Closing for Apple Store at Cool Springs Galleria

New Apple Store at Cool Springs Galleria

New Apple Store at Cool Springs Galleria

Yesterday was the last day of business for MacAuthority at the Cool Springs Galleria.  The store is closing likely due to the new Apple Store opening on the first floor.  CoolSprings.com originally reported the incoming new Apple Store in Cool Springs back in January.

The ominous black wall to the left, seen lately in the Cool Springs Galleria, now has a freshly added white Apple logo and website address.

The Cool Springs MacAuthority closing is bittersweet for many Apple lovers we spoke with.  Excitement for the new Apple Store opening is mixed with sadness for MacAuthority leaving.  MacAuthority has been the hometown hero for many years, having established roots and served Apple fans in Nashville well before  a corporate Apple Store opened at the Mall at Green Hills.

Below is the letter sent yesterday to current customers by MacAuthority CEO Mark Gregory:

“Dear MacAuthority CoolSprings Galleria Customer,

Thank you for allowing us to serve you in Franklin, TN. We hope you’ve enjoyed shopping with us. We’re always looking for the best ways to enhance lives and livelihoods through great tech products, and we trust we’ve done so for you. After carefully considering how to best focus our resources, we have decided to close our CoolSprings location at the end of the business day today (9pm). We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but look forward to seeing you at our other two Nashville-area locations: Vanderbilt West End and Nashville Downtown – the latter of which will begin to undergo a remodel soon. You are an important customer, regardless of which store you frequent, and we are extending you an exclusive offer for $50 off any new iPad or special pricing on AppleTV ($74.99). We hope you will redeem this exclusive certificate at one of our other stores. For hours, directions, and more info, please visit macauthority.com or reference our locations below. Again, thank you for over five wonderful years at CoolSprings Galleria.

With Gratitude,
Mark Gregory, CEO”

Brooks Brothers Closing to Accommodate New Apple Store

Brooks Brothers at the Cool Springs Galleria is closing to make room for the incoming 13,840 square foot Apple Store.

We spoke with a Brooks Brothers employee who said the last day of business will be Jan. 27, 2012.

CoolSPrings.com asked why Brooks Brothers was leaving and the response was, “It’s just a real estate business decision.  We are opening at Opry Mills and the mall needed room for the new 13,840 square foot Apple Store in Cool Springs.  The Apple Store is taking over both the Abercrombie & Fitch and Brooks Brothers spaces”.

Combining the two spaces together will create a 85 foot wide storefront for the Apple Store.

On average Apple generates $5,626 per square foot in retail sales, the highest of any U.S retail chain.

Although we are excited about the huge Apple Store on the way, we are sad to see Brooks Brothers leave.  We hope Brooks Brothers reopens at the Cool Springs Galleria at some point in the future.

Below is a letter just received by Brooks Brothers customers, notifying them of the upcoming closing:

Apple Store Opening at Cool Springs Galleria

CoolSprings.com has learned that a new Apple Store is taking over both the Brooks Brothers AND Abercrombie & Fitch space for a possible 13,000 square foot store.  It would be a huge Apple Store!

The last day of business for Abercrombie & Fitch at the Cool Springs Galleria is Jan. 21, 2012.

The last day of business for Brooks Brothers at the Cool Springs Galleria is Jan. 27, 2012.

Our confidential source has confirmed the new Apple store opening with both Apple & CBL.

CoolSprings.com was told by a several employees from different stores inside the mall that CBL decided not to renew Abercrombie & Fitch’s lease in favor of a new tenant, although unconfirmed by mall management.

Abercrombie Kids store located upstairs told CoolSprings.com, “No we are not closing, only the adult store downstairs and I think their last day is Saturday”.

We found out several months ago about an Apple Store coming to Cool Springs.  At the time CoolSprings.com learned it would be on the first floor near Macy’s.  We did not know exactly which tenant would be replaced, although we were told that tenant was not aware they would be leaving soon.  One source told CoolSprings.com that Apple will take possession in April and open Sept, although it seems like it may be sooner.  Although not confirmed by Apple or the Cool Springs Galleria, a source very much in the know told CoolSprings.com with certainty that a real Apple Store is coming to the mall.

Anyone who has visited the Apple Store at the Mall of Green Hills on a weekend knows that it is so busy there is frequently a line out front.  The kind of line you have to stand in and wait before someone exits the store, to prevent the total person count inside from exceeding the maximum number allowed per Nashville fire code. It’s that busy. Needless to say a second Apple Store in Nashville is needed and Cool Springs is the only other appropriate submarket for it to be located.

We are not aware of any changes happening at the Abercrombie Kids store, located upstairs in the Cool Springs mall.

With great sadness, this also means we’ll no longer have shirtless male greeters in Cool Springs on Black Friday.

There will soon only be 2 remaining Abercrombie & Fitch stores in the Nashville area, located in the Mall at Green Hills and Rivergate Mall.

It remains to be seen what will happen with the existing MacAuthority in the Cool Springs Galleria.  MacAuthority recently opened another location at 2525 West End near the new Vanderbilt Bookstore, in between Bread & Company and Moe’s.  It will be interesting to see if MacAuthority stays or leaves  on their own accord when their lease expires or if Apple & CBL will even allow them to stay in the mall now that a genuine Apple Store is opening up.
