Fire-damaged burger restaurant reopens in Franklin

A popular hamburger restaurant in Franklin reopened Wednesday following a fire last year.

The fire heavily damaged Back Yard Burgers in February 2013, forcing it to shut down.

The restaurant held a grand reopening Wednesday. The first 100 customers received a free burger.

The fire gave owners the opportunity to improve some of the restaurant’s features.

“We had the opportunity to do some new things as it relates to our kitchen technology, cooking equipment and a new fresh design here in our dining room,” Back Yard Burgers CEO David McDougall told News 2.

The company says it plans to introduce the new look of the Franklin restaurant to all its locations throughout the southeast.
