Wolfgang Puck Express restaurant in Cool Springs has closed.
The fast casual, Italian eatery was located at 553 Cool Springs Blvd., Franklin, TN 37067 in Thoroughbred near the Cool Springs Galleria.
Although we didn’t expect this nationally known brand to close (especially before the Christmas busy season), it doesn’t come as a big shocker.
A note left on the restaurants front door read, “To Our Guests, WolfGang Puck Express has now closed. We thank you for your patronage. WP”.
The food was good, but not great in the sense of “Oh, we need to come back here soon”. Parking was frequently a challenge. Next door is the busiest Starbucks in this region. Wolfgang Puck Express was also attached to and shared parking with Carrabba’s, which does a fairly steady business.
We spoke with Todd McCalla, a Nashville commercial real estate agent who specializes in representing retail tenants in Cool Springs and he was not sure if the restaurant space had already been leased. McCalla said, “If available, the space is most likely going to lease close to $30 a square foot”.
Wolfgang Puck, the man, the myth, the legend, even made a personal appearance at the grand opening of this location, near the Cool Springs Galleria.
This is the second restaurant to close in recent months in the Thoroughbred Development, managed by Brookside Properties. A few doors over, Atlanta Bread Company closed back in September. Newk’s is opening the space soon, a new concept by the original founders of McAlister’s Deli.
Unfortunately, we’ve heard the grim reaper of restaurants is hovering over several other local eateries around the Cool Springs Galleria area. Only time will tell.
It’s really not all bad though. Like the cycle of life, but in this case the “cycle of restaurants”. Trends change and people’s tastes change, but there is always something new, ready to fill the void.
