All over the Cool Springs area, The Jones Company collected and delivered over 500 pair of shoes in ten large boxes for Soles4Souls to distribute to those in need. The shoe drive was held from May 15th, 2010 through June 30th, 2010 at all 18 of The Jones Company model home locations across the Middle Tennessee area.
The Jones Company urged homeowners, prospective homeowners and the general public to drop off their unwanted, gently worn shoes. The delivery to the Soles4Souls warehouse took place on Thursday, July 15th to the Nashville warehouse for distribution. Although Soles4Souls is a global charity, they are based in Nashville and recently held a large shoe drive to benefit local flood victims.
“Collecting shoes for those affected by natural disasters, such as a flood, or living in poverty was a humbling experience for all of us,” said Perry Pratt, director of operations for The Jones Company. “Providing good shoes is such an easy way to make a tangible difference in someone’s life, and it has been our pleasure to work with Soles4Souls to help facilitate the donations.”
Soles4Souls is a 501(c)(3) charity distributing shoes free of charge to people in need, regardless of race, religion, class, or any other criteria. Since 2005, Soles4Souls has given away over 5.5 million pairs of new and gently worn shoes (currently donating one pair every 9 seconds) to people in over 125 countries.
