Son charged in stabbing death of father in Brentwood

A 31-year-old man has been charged with criminal homicide in the stabbing death of his father in the upscale Nashville suburb of Brentwood.

Daniel Cantrell is being held in the Williamson County jail on $1 million bond in connection to death of his father, Oliver Cantrell Jr.

Cantrell Jr. was found with multiple stab wounds inside his home at 5212 Heathrow Hills Drive just before 7 p.m.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Daniel Cantrell was still at the home when authorities arrived and taken into custody shortly after.

His initial court appearance was scheduled for April 17.

The investigation is ongoing.

Cantrell Jr. was a local architect who worked with LifeWay Architecture.  According to their Web site, he was with the company for 16 years.

Further details were not immediately released.
