Cool Springs has gained yet another retailer leaving Opry Mills, the Nike Store, now that it will be at least a year until they reopen.
The Nike Store has moved into the Cool Springs Pointe development where Best Buy, Golf Galaxy, Dollar Tree, Ross Dress For Less, Old Navy, Mattress King, DSW Shoes and GameStop are located.
Many retail tenants from Opry Mills have relocated to Lebanon’s Premium Outlets. Just a few weeks ago Simon Property Group, the parent company to Opry Mills, acquired Premium Outlets in Lebanon and changed the name to Prime Outlets. The move will no doubt help “stop the bleeding” and allow better overall control of the Opry Mills tenants, rather than losing them to competing local outlet malls.
Nike has said while the move is only temporary, while repairs are underway at the flood damages Opry Mills mall. They have stated they plan on moving back to Opry Mills outlet mall at Opryland when it reopens.
Local sources we spoke with said that while a only short term was signed, Nike is most likely going to “see how it goes” in the area adjacent to the Cool Springs Galleria before racing back to Opry Mills if and when it ever opens.
