A large home in Franklin was demolished by a fire Friday morning and is considered a total loss.
Smoke could be seen from miles away after the residence on Tulloss Road off Clovercroft Road caught fire around 7 a.m.
News 2 learned a passerby saw the flames, climbed the fence and ran through the front pasture to alert the house sitter, who woke up and made it out safely.
She reported she initially heard a loud “boom,” but checked the house and didn’t see anything.
The homeowners, who were in California, were notified and began making their way back to Tennessee.
One firefighter was transported to a local hospital after falling through the floor. His injuries were not serious.
Lightning is being considered a possible cause.
