The Cool Springs Galleria Carlyle & Co. will begin liquidation after parent company Finlay Enterprises Inc. was purchased out of bankruptcy court by Gordon Bros. Retail Partners LLC.
Finlay Enterprises entered bankruptcy protection August 5. Every bid Finlay made for their own assets was trumped by Gordon Bros. until a final bid equal to 85.75% equity on the asset inventory was accepted. The bid is worth an estimated $116 million for the company’s remaining 49 stores and inventory.
Any purchases prior to Friday Sept. 25, 2009 will have 30 days from receipt date for any returns. No returns will be accepted on any jewelry or merchandise moving forward. The stores expect to remain open until Jan or Feb 2010. Gordon Bros usually takes advantage of the increased traffic from the closing to bring in much more merchandise than was originally available. Many times lesser expensive items, below the normal quality carried at the closing store is trucked in. Be careful when you purchase because they are no returns. Make sure to ask if the watch or jewelery manufacturer warranty (if any) is voided if the item is purchased at a liquidation or bankruptcy sale.
