Journeys Backyard BBQ Tour

Journeys Backyard BBQ Tour stopped at the Cool Springs Galleria recently on Saturday, June 5 with free live music, professional BMX and skateboarding demos.

Professional skateboarding and BMX athletes who made appearances included Bucky Lasek, Tony Alva, Christian Hosoi, Derek Garland, Wes Agee and Ryan Hagy. A halfpipe in addition to several BMX jumps were set up for the professional demonstrations.

Vans, Rockstar Energy Drink and Metal Mulisha sponsored the BMX, skateboarding and FMX segments of the event.

A stage was also set up with a live concert throughout showcasing musical guests The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Framing Hanley and Hot Chelle Rae. Converse sponsored a special “Battle of the Bands” contest between musical acts Farewell Fighter, Mike’s Pawn Shop and Since Forever.

A slew of sponsors accompanied the tour, held in the parking lot of the Cool Springs Galleria. Journeys Backyard BBQ sponsors include Journeys, Vans, Rockstar Energy Drink, Metal Mulisha, Circa, Invisalign, iPath, Osiris, Samsung, Verizon, Macbeth, Globe, Adio, DVS, Skullcandy, Etnies, Disney XD and DC shoes.

Disney Store at Mall Closes

Disney Store at Cool Springs Mall Closes

The last Disney Store in the Nashville area, located at the Cool Springs Galleria has closed.

Mall officials had been in talks with The Disney Store in hopes of keeping their retail tenant over the last few months.

The Disney Store  ultimately decided not to renew their lease in an effort to regain strength in the remaining brick and mortar Disney Stores, while building and growing Disney’s online ecommerce presence.

There are two remaining Disney Stores in Tennessee, in Memphis and Knoxville.  Calls to both the Memphis store at Wolfchase Galleria and Knoxville store at West Town Mall went unanswered.

The former Disney Store space in the Cool Springs Galleria will be gutted and reconfigured to make room for new retail tenants on the way.

One new retail tenant coming to the mall in Cool Springs is “Francesca’s Collections”, a womens store offering accessories, jewelry and apparel.

Francesco’s Collections currently has locations at The Streets of Indian Lake in Hendersonville, H.G. Hill Center in Green Hills Nashville and The Avenue in Murfreesboro.

Coach Opening April 2010

Coach Store at Mall in Cool Springs

A Coach store is opening on the first level the Cool Springs Galleria April 2010, as we first reported back in August.

The Coach store is being built out right now and they are actively hiring staff for this Cool Springs location.  Coach has one other store in Nashville, located at The Mall at Green Hills.

In addition the Cool Springs and Green Hills stores, Coach has over 400 stores in the United States and Canada, which many of you are very familiar with.  Coach is also carried at select department stores, such as Dillard’s in the Nashville area.

Auntie Anne’s Free Pretzels

Tomorrow is free pretzel day at Auntie Anne’s in the Cool Springs Galleria!  Free pretzels are offered from 10am to 3pm, so make sure you don’t miss the window of opportunity!  For this special free food promotion, Auntie Anne’s is offering a choice of either the Original Pretzel or Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel.  There is also limit of one pretzel per person.

The offer is good any any Auntie Anne’s in the country but we are primarily concerned about the one here at the Cool Springs Galleria.  For all the times you’ve walked by and sampled one of their pretzels, here is your chance to stop by a grab a whole one for free!

Cooking Up Comfort Food

Interested in taking a cooking class in Cool Springs but not sure where to go?

There are several choices for cooking classes in the Cool Springs area including Williams-Sonoma, Viking store at the Factory in Franklin and Whole Foods.  Williams-Sonoma at the Cool Springs Galleria is a great place to start because they have free cooking classes on Sunday afternoons.

A cooking class called “Cooking Up Comfort” is being held at 1pm on Sunday, February 21, 2010 at the Cool Springs Galleria Williams-Sonoma.  With the extremely cold weather we’ve had lately, a few comfort foods will do us all some good.

Williams-Sonoma will show you how to make a few home style favorites including meatloaf with mashed potatoes, tacos and other delicious dishes.

Williams-Sonoma Cooking School

The Williams-Sonoma in Cool Springs is offering a free cooking class at noon on Sunday, January 24.  This class is the third and final in a series on how to sear meats and vegetables.  Participants  in the class, held at the Cool Springs Galleria, will also learn how to choose the correct pan and cooking temperature.  You will also learn how to simmer, a technique that’s used for making soups, sauces and more.  The new All-Clad D5 technology will be featured.  The Cool Springs Williams-Sonoma instructors will attempt to show you the difference it makes with your food preparations.

Santa has arrived at the Cool Springs Galleria and he is not cheap!

It looks like Shutterfly is the photography sponsor because every package comes with either a $10 or $20 Shutterfly gift card.

Santa is at the Cool Springs Galleria November 7 though December 24.  His hours of availability are Monday through Saturday from 10am-9pm with breaks from 1pm-2pm and 5pm-6pm.  Santa works Sundays from 12pm-6pm with a break from 3pm-3:30pm.  Santa has to leave at 6pm sharp on December 24 to make sure he hits the West Coast so the line may be cut off as early as 4pm to make sure Santa is not late to California.

Free Thanksgiving Dessert Class

Looking forward to Thanksgiving dinner but not sure what to make for desserts this year?  Have no fear!  Williams Sonoma at the Cool Springs Galleria is offering a free Thanksgiving dessert class at noon on both Sunday November 15 and Monday November 16.

Williams Sonoma Vs. Viking Cooking School

Let’s put this into perspective.  The Viking Cooking School, located at the Factory in Franklin, offers a three hour class called the ”Holiday Sweets Workshop” for $89, $69 if you register early.  Maybe you learn a little more, but its a hike out the Factory in Franklin and I don’t see anything in the Viking’s Holiday Sweets Workshop that mentions pumpkin pie crust.  The keystone of every Thanksgiving.  It almost sacrilege they dont include it.    In all fairness, I think the Williams Sonoma class is also only one hour long, ok with us.

Not only are they having two classes but they’re easy to attend, at the Cool Springs Galleria in Franklin Tennessee. 

And they are FREE!

Thanksgiving dinner is never complete without an offering of holiday desserts and the Cool Springs Williams Sonoma helps make it easy for you.  Expect to learn about the traditional favorites such as pumpkin pie, as well as some other tasty recipes.  They will demonstrate how to create a flaky, tender crust, a modern spin on the pumpkin pie and more!
