The Vanderbilt Breast Center is inviting cancer patients in Cool Springs and Nashville to a free counseling session designed to help women cope with cancer treatment side-effects like skin changes and hair loss.
The seminar will be held Wednesday, Jan. 26, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., at Vanderbilt Health One Hundred Oaks, 719 Thompson Lane, Nashville. Patients with all forms of cancer who are undergoing chemotherapy are invited, no matter where they are receiving treatment.
The theme for the latest American Cancer Society-sponsored seminar is “Resolutions…Looking Good and Feeling Better.” In addition to hair and makeup tips, participants will be treated to a light, healthy lunch.
During the class, participants learn how to draw their own eyebrows and apply makeup to give an impression of eyelashes. They receive tips on dealing with skin problems caused by radiation and chemotherapy. They also learn how to cope with thinning or missing hair using inexpensive, easy to manage head gear.
Each woman is given a free supply of brand-name cosmetics and other products worth hundreds of dollars. Seating is limited. For more information and to sign up for this free event offered by the Vanderbilt Breast Center, call (615) 322-7563.
