A well known Nashville food truck named”Labor of Love”, voted Best Philly Cheesesteak in Nashville 2011, is serving lunch in Cool Springs on Wed Dec. 14!

Labor of Love will be parked at 1616 Westgate Circle in Cool Springs/Brentwood from 11:30pm – 1:30pm.

Westgate Circle is the retail/office park where Lexus Nashville, Sportsman Grille, Amerigo, Cozymel’s and SHogun are located.

Vanderbilt Breast Center Event

The Vanderbilt Breast Center is inviting women who want to receive their screening mammograms to a special Girls’ Day Out, Saturday, Nov. 12, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., near Cool Springs at Vanderbilt Health One Hundred Oaks, 719 Thompson Lane, Nashville.

Women are invited to a day of fun and pampering while they take care of one of the most important things they can do for their health – getting screened for breast cancer.

More than 230,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States this year and approximately 39,000 women will die from the disease, according to the National Cancer Institute.

The special Girls’ Day Out will feature a free brunch, massages, a healthy cooking demonstration and door prizes.

Free parking is available behind the building and participants are asked to enter the building through Entrance A.

To participate in this Vanderbilt Breast Center event just outside Cool Springs, please RSVP by calling (615) 936-6979 by Thursday, Nov. 10.

Insurance will be billed and co-pays will apply.

The following are wines we will be tasting as reviewed in Her Magazine this month!

Frisk Prickly Riesling, Australia, 2010
This wine definitely makes you feel frisky! The prickly part comes from a light effervescence of bubbles injected into the bottle, enhancing the luscious sweetness and floral notes. This Riesling is not too sweet or too syrupy due to the balance of acidity that the citrus flavors bring. Find it around $12.

Trapiche Broquel Malbec, Argentina, 2009
Malbec is becoming a star. It has all the body of a cabernet without any chalkiness left over on your palate. While it’s easily enjoyed by itself, Malbec stands up to food really well. With aromas of black fruit jam and liqueur and an elegant touch of smoke, vanilla and chocolate, this wine has a sweet attack, full-bodied tannins with a long, pleasant finish. Ideal to combine with pasta and mushroom sauce, grilled red meats, stews and cheeses. Available for around $16.

Qupe Syrah, Central Coast, California, 2009
This is a classic Central Coast Syrah exhibiting cherry, spice, and everything nice. Syrah is typically pretty smooth, and a great middle of the road red wine that is sure to be a crowd pleaser. This one has lingering chocolate overtones that make it a nice partner for sweets. Find it around $15.

Zaphy Cabernet, Mendoza, Argentina, 2010
Zaphy means “root” or “origin” in the language of the Huarpes, indigenous inhabitants of the Mendoza. The wine itself imparts a beautiful tapestry of spice, blackberry and plum and will pair nicely with a burger hot off the grill on a crisp fall evening. Find it at about $14.

We are currently looking for donations for the silent auction and all businesses and auction items will be listed on the website.

If you would like to donate money in honor of a breast cancer patient or survivor, or donate in memory of someone who lost their battle to breast cancer, you can purchase a feather boa that will be displayed with their name the night of the event. Each boa is $25, bright pink for patients and survivors, light pink for those who have lost their lives. Print and mail in Boa Form with payment to Perfectly Placed.

The Pink Gala is a celebration of my mom’s story of survival and hope.

Chili Cook Off in Downtown Franklin

The Ninth Annual Chili Cook-Off in Downtown Franklin is Saturday Oct. 29, 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. (or until the chili lasts)!

Ten teams are competing for the title of best chili, both in the People’s Choice and Judges’ Choice categories.

Tennessee Commerce Bank and Bob Parks Realty are the presenting sponsors, with gold status support by Taylor Made Smiles and Five Points Roofing Company.

Cooking up a storm will be The Daily Dish, Boxwood Bistro, The Pink Gala, Merridee’s Breadbasket, Bob Parks Realty, St. Philip Catholic Church, Lorraine’s Franklin Marriott Cool Springs, Franklin Firefighters Association L3758 and the Franklin City Club.

Tickets are just $5 per person to sample all 10 chilies.

Hot dogs, chips and drinks are also available at the Chili Cook-off tent. Everyone tasting the chilies receive a 2 ounce serving of each chili and then vote for their favorite.  At the same time a panel of judges also taste tests the recipes and decide on their favorite. Awards will also be given for Best Booth Design and Team Spirit.

The great news is the BBQ competition won’t really gear up until after the Chili Cook-off is complete, so you can enjoy both!

Dillard’s at the Cool Springs Galleria has a new and fabulous area opening within the costmetics department called “The Edge Beauty”.

The Edge Beauty will offer several fresh and exciting cosmetic brands new to Dillard’s.  The department has a “Sephora-esque” feel with modern, clean lines surrounded by a natural white light.  The Edge is designed more as a self serve area, it will allow customers to browse on their own and examine products without a salesperson retrieving it from behind a counter.

Stop by on Saturday October 22 for a special visit by a national make up artist to coincide with opening of The Edge Beauty.

As Master Distiller, Mr. Lincoln Henderson is responsible for developing well known bourbons such as Woodford Reserve, Gentleman Jack, Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel (among others!).  He will be autographing his new project, Angel’s Envy Bourbon here in Cool Springs at Brinkmann’s.

Lincoln Henderson is a member of the prestigious Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame and will be signing bottles of Angels Envy, a bourbon with exquisitely subtle “expressions” that comes from joining port wine heritage with bourbon tradition.
